La Femme: A Celebration of Femininity
La Femme: A Celebration of Femininity was an art exhibition held on Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 that showcased and celebrated femininity and what it means to be feminine. It was a space where everyone and anyone could share what being feminine meant to them. There was a diverse range of artists, including individuals of different races, genders, and sexual orientations. It was for anyone who identified with femininity and wanted to showcase what it meant to them, this was the place for them to be heard and seen. This was especially important, as it was held at an all-women's institution in which individual diversity was often stunted.
We were incredibly proud to showcase a variety of visual artwork, including: drawings, paintings, digital art, film, dance, ceramics, photography, and sculpture. Additionally, spoken word poetry was showcased live, along with the artist talks.
The exhibition was immensely successful, and lead to an annual legacy of La Femme. Femininity is power, and this exhibition embodied just that.
